Positive mental health affects all aspects of the school community, student, staff and family engagement, academic achievement and social adjustment.
Mind Matters is a mental health initiative, which provides strategies to promote positive mental health and wellbeing, as well as prevent mental health difficulties in students, by taking steps to improve relationships and resilience. Cromehurst School is using the ‘Mind Matters' framework to work towards positive mental wellbeing for the entire school community – including students, families and school staff.
In 2016, our focus was on staff resilience, followed by strategies to teach students resilience to improve wellbeing. This included embedding strategies for developing positive mental health into our current programs, including PBEL and SoSafe. We now have a common language across these programs that engender student positive self-worth and resilience. In 2017, we are working towards family/carer involvement in the Mind Matters initiative, through a variety of workshops about positive mental health and wellbeing.
Please see the link below for an introduction to the Mind Matters framework.
